I've heard from 3 people that it has been difficult for them to register here.  Is there any way to make the process easier?

I think the problem is that the administrator set up a special e-mail address for registrations here that isn't checked often.

Personal horror story: I tried to change the e-mail address is my profile, and that somehow "deactivated" my account.  It took more than a month for the administrator to check the de-comm e-mail and fix the problem (yikes!).

Anyhoo, I think the e-mail permission thing cuts down on spammers.  But it IS making registration (and fixing administrative snafus) quite a PITA.

Good news!

Registration no longer requires administrator approval. This means that within a few minutes new people should be able to get their accounts activated. To deflect the spam bots, an authorization question has been added to the registration form that only a human should be able to answer.

If you registered prior to this message and are still awaiting approval, either email gcmwarning with your account name, or simply register a new account.
