I have read and re-read John Hopler's purported "apology" letter.  I have read and re-read Larry Pile's reconciliation letter.

In Hopler's laughable letter - Healing and forgiveness is available...to all who go to THEM.  Little or no effort is made to GO TO those who are offended....

Unless you're Larry Pile.

If GCM can get something out of a man, then GCM "leaders" will go to him - Larry has influence; the rest of us don't.  We're simply not a priority.

Still waiting on my personal apology letter.  Larry, please repudiate your reconciliation letter - it's a betrayal to the most of us.  The cult abuses still occur.

Pvartis, it’s been a long time since I read those “letters”, but I was also very disappointed in Larry Pile’s “reconciliation” letter. I have no idea what GCx National Leaders said or did, but it seems sketchy to me.

Based on their behavior, I put little trust in what any of the GCx National Leaders claim. They have proved to be scarily lacking in integrity. None of them are fit to be leaders of any church group according to scripture.

Pvitartas, I agree with you. When I first learned about the reconciliation, I was kind of glad if it brought Larry Pile some peace, but I also felt a sense of betrayal. They got to him. They schmoozed him.  They won their PR victory. Then they went right back to being the same. So many people harmed, some deeply traumatized, but it's all inconsequential because a handful of GC elders met with Larry and lovebombed him all over again?

If Larry wanted to stop writing about GC, that was absolutely his right. However, it seems naive to announce that they had changed for the better, based solely on their own assurances.

And now that you point it out, I'm surprised he didn't advocate for all those other people who were hurt. What if he had insisted that the GC elders show true repentance by offering individual apologies? Would those meetings still have ended on such a friendly note?

In spite of all that, I deeply appreciate Larry and all the work he did for so many years.  None of this post is written in a spirit of criticizing him. I don't begrudge him the desire to make peace and put all the stress behind him. EDIT TO ADD: I believe he allowed himself to be deceived, and I'm disappointed about that, but all the same I wish him well.

Very much agree, Huldah!!

Thank you so VERY much for all the hard work you did to reveal and record the actual modus operandi of GCx, Larry!
