Just stumbled on this tape that's been around a while of the 1991 Pastor's Conference where Bovenmyer is speaking as the Statement of Error is being released.

I had no idea that 28 people had been "deprogrammed" back then.

Clearly, you can see why they are pleased to be accepted by the NEA, Pile, and Enroth.

This statement is quite arrogant. Kill the wolves?HuhHuh So much for "Project Care". Smiley

Did they ever do a "ministry audit" like he suggests?

I don't think the ministry audit happened. Also, I don't think the book of government ever was written, either.

The frustrating/disappointing thing about this is that, while they make all sorts of claims of humility about the statement of error, it demonstrates that the paper was not really an apology or statement of error. They seem more concerned with their reputation than any harm their teaching might have done to fellow believers. 28 people going through deprogramming is no small matter. 28 lives messed up. 28 families picking up the pieces. Not to mention all those who left, but didn't go through deprogramming.

About a minute and a half in, you will note that he says, "Ene..., critics". He starts to call critics "enemies" and then catches himself.

These people have never apologized. They have never corrected their errors. They have never demonstrated humility, but they like to mention how humble they are. They continue to think they are right and those trying to help them see the flaws in their teaching are enemies.

Quote from: Transcription of Dave Bovenmyer's Weaaknesses Paper
"...enemies, I don't know, that's what we used to call them anyway. Today we are calling them critics...I just thought, well you know these people are really causing some problems. And it's one thing if the guy is just kind of threatening over there, and not doing anything, but if they are coming into your camp, and um- killing soldiers or workers it's time to do something."

Wow, and they accuse us of slander.   Roll Eyes

Oh stop denying it, Huldah.  Everyone knows it was you who has been whacking GC "soldiers" with your new death-ray laser gun.  sigh...

More and more I have found myself wondering why people like the above GC leader can name the name of Christ but have no fear of having to answer to Him for his slander, lies, and blatant hatred toward fellow Christians.  Do they think the Almighty Creator of the universe will not hold them accountable?   Where is that awesome fear of the God they worship???

It's funny I guess. Maybe I still need de-programming.  I was asked to leave then, Solid Rock, in 1978.  Reading and understanding that crap still goes on as occured in the late 70's leaves me sick to my stomach.  Seriously, I really do feel nauseous.

There is a part of me that still fears being disciplined, shunned and excommunicated by those people simply for being critical...and i left 25 years ago!  They use words like love and brother like a dagger.

I'm horrified that abusers who emotionally raped people during my time in Solid Rock, are actually flourishing in the purported Great Commission Movement.  So sad.  God has his ways, it doesn't mean I understand His wisdom.

Welcome to the forum pvitartas.

Yes, I too still remember the ponderous weight of fear and authority that the elders (pastors) assumed for themselves and wielded at their whim.
