Hello, my name is Silas Nelson, one of the children of Steve Nelson, who used to pastor in Summitview Fort Collins and who church planted Summitview Greeley and The Rio Church in El Paso, TX. Yes the, "as your pastor I'm telling you not to go on GCM Warning" Steve Nelson AND the author Premeditated Parenting. I left GCC in 2019.

I have started a subreddit for exGCC members at https://www.reddit.com/r/exGCC/ that I would encourage folks affected by GCC to join.

While this forum has obviously done a lot of good in the past, the website is archaic and almost impossible to navigate. I have talked with many people who feel that they cannot find any useful information on this site anymore. I'm hoping that we can harness Reddit's structure and Googleability to make it easier for folks to find information on GCC, especially now that it has dissolved and seemingly covered their tracks so that a member of an M28 Alliance church would have no idea that it is related to GCC.

Please reach out if you have questions, but I'm hoping this can hopefully bring some good and help some people understand their experiences in GCC churches.

I am really excited to see where this goes.
I know subreddits have been helpful for former members of ICOC and the Network.

One thing I want to ask is what will the rules be for talking about former and current leaders?
I am assuming it may be similar to rules here?

While I don’t find this site archaic or difficult to navigate and feel it has an important documented history, I want to encourage you in your effort to create a place for exGcc members to share their experiences.

Would you feel free to share why you left GCC?

Hi! For now, there aren't any outlined rules but we will adjust them as issues arise! Especially at the beginning, the sub will be a work in progress as the mods figure out what's useful and necessary.

Different Steve Nelson! There were two in the movement at the same time. This one is most well known for his book Premeditated Parenting and his parenting ministry BtoZ Parenting, which was/is pretty influential in MWRGC / M28 Alliance.

Nice to see another ex-summitviewer on here. I left in 2009 or so, after 5 years of heavy involvement with the Rock that nearly tore me apart. This forum has been incredibly helpful in my own life and healing, and I’m so grateful it exists. However, I also find it difficult to navigate, and I feel like it got so swamped with the Darling stuff it almost lost its original purpose. Nice to see something new, especially in light of the name changes. I’ve never used reddit, but maybe it’s time Smiley

Is it possible to link back to this from the Reddit page? Might be useful for continuity and keeping history alive.

This is a great idea! We are hoping to build a wiki of resources for the subreddit's about page, and we will definitely be linking this forum. Are there any particular sections, threads, or searches that you would recommend as "must read"s??

The gcxweb is a treasure trove of evidence. It appears to be only available on the wayback machine, however.

It is clear to me now that this forum is not a safe place to post as a GCx Survivor if you are not an Evangelical and/or not someone over 40.

If you want a place where you can share your story without it being used by someone else, please consider the ExGCC Subreddit.
We have started small and we are still figuring things out, but we will be much more respectful of your story there.

Please reach out to the Mods there if you have any questions or want to connect with others who will not question your story.
