...as opposed to being bullied by the leadership. Did anyone else here experience this while at GC? My question is for anyone, but especially for sisters who were bullied by other sisters. I'm asking because of my own experience. There was one sister at Solid Rock who was relentlessly critical for even the slightest offense, but always with some spiritual justification, of course. She made life in the sisters' house just about unbearable to an even greater degree than the elders and the general doctrinal oppressiveness. The elders, at least, weren't lying in wait to verbally pounce on me every single day, whereas the Bully Sister was my housemate. Eventually I discovered that she was a serial bully. She had helped to drive away at least one other sister before I joined the fellowship, and later on after had I left, she bullied--and was instrumental in the unjust excommunication of--yet another new sister. Perhaps I should be grateful God allowed me to be her housemate, in a way, because I'd have stayed at SR much longer without this experience. It was good that I left before I internalized any more of their warped doctrine or (shudder!) ended up in some arranged marriage with a brother I didn't love. But still, the bullying was terribly damaging, so I'm curious to know: was non-leadership bullying (especially by women) a common problem, or was my experience fairly unusual? Did anyone ever report bullying to the elders, and if so, what was the reaction? Is this kind of thing still happening there?
