I belonged to a non-GCM church that gave a large portion of its offerings to missions and charitiable purposes.  It had services and counseling that really helped the down-and-out.  I always felt the money I gave would go to good use.

It's pretty standard for churches to make their budget available to members.  To keep things positive, I'd suggest that people take a look at their local church's spending.  If you aren't sure enough is going to compassionate purposes, then you may want to adjust your giving so that you are sure the money you give to God reflects His values.
