I’ve watched a few of these documentaries on cults the past couple years and reminded me how indoctrinated I was in this cult

A couple lately that are just like gcm

Hill song on discovery plus
The weigh down on hbo max

But all cult documentaries have a flavor of what I experienced in gcm

Control is the common denominator

Hello, JFP. I also find that the majority of articles, books, or documentaries on cults I have come across have similarities to GCx. From the way they “win people over” initially, intrusively hover over new members personal lives, require very unnatural all-consuming commitment, teach and practice traditions that are not biblical sound, to the way they shun you when you leave.

I haven’t seen either one of the two documentaries you mentioned. In what ways did you think they were like GCx?

Obviously, this post about GCx similarities to cults and others like it disturb those dismissively defensive of GCx and those who do the bidding of deceptively denying GCx leaders to slanderously attack and label us enemies, even enemies of the gospel. So, they attempt to bury these posts by adding comments of little value to the discussions to distract from the main purpose and intention of the website.

Spiritual abuse by GCx should be disturbing. It certainly disturbed the faith and well-being of thousands of victims. God sees the intentions of each heart, and is attentive especially to those that are spiritually wounded. He will not support those who proudly deny or cover up such sins.

I agree.

I watched a YouTube video some time ago on Youth with a Mission. The girl in the video was describing practices that hit really close to home. Even some of the things I read about domestic violence remind me of my time at GC, not in the violence aspect of course, but in the control tactics involved.

The red flags of spiritual abuse are surprisingly similar to the red flags of other forms of abuse, since abusers of all types operate from a common sense of entitlement. It's no wonder that high-control churches resemble each other so much.

Many churches want control... It's actually the stupidest thing that they could want... Because with control comes a lot of liability... In Acts 9:25, you'll see Peter reaching Lyda and all of the Plains of Sharon heard the Word. Many got saved.... That was out of control growth.... If Peter had wanted control, he would have slowed everything way down.
