So we're all reading the Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren during the "40 days of Purpose" and the guy who had been my main contact within GC takes me for a one-on-one outing one night and we get on the subject of Discipleship, which is one of Rick's 5 steps to living The Life.  And so thinking we're on the same page about how one best becomes a disciple of Christ, he seriously asked me if he could "disciple" me.

Did they ever pop the question to you?

Yes, and sadly, this is when it all came crashing down for us. I was approached by one of the leaders to "start training" to become a leader in that particular church.

After a few questions, I was told it would involve making unwavering commitments to the GCM movement and to the local church installation above and beyond what we already have in the family of Christ.

I immediately (and politely) refused to be in "leadership" and at that point it lead directly to us leaving the GCM movement altogether.

I cannot help but think that had I not been approached this way, we would have been blithely moving along till we found out later. It makes me sick to think of all the others there who do not know what is coming.
