He has the same training as every other pastor, I would imagine. He's a nice guy. I really don't have any personal issues with any GC pastors. My issue is with what they teach.
A big problem with the GCLI teaching is that it is "secret knowledge". No one really knows what they teach except for those who have been given the "tap on the shoulder" and asked to participate in the GCLI program. Therefore, no one can point out and refute any error that might be found in it, until after it is publicly taught.
Those in the program tend to be young guys who are relatively new believers. I really believe they want to live for the Lord and learn all they can. This seems to be the pattern that goes way back. Get college guys, they are easier to influence. They trust their leaders so they listen to them. They don't have "life experience" or "theological knowledge" as new believers to question things that may be off. Plus, if they questioned a leader/teaching they would get put on the "naughty list".

The problem is that many of these leaders who mentor GCLI guys were taught at the feet of Jim McCotter. Even if they weren't directly mentored by McCotter, every current GC pastor can trace his roots back to Jim.
There is a line of "apostolic succession", so to speak, that can be traced back to the very first apostle of the movement who is Jim McCotter.
