Somewhere around here long ago someone mentioned the idea of a GC ombudsman.  This would be an individual employed by GC, but who would independently review the organization's practices, behavior of its leaders, and could function as a "point person" for members (or concerned citizens) to direct their concerns.

I must say, that's a bang-up idea and would go a long way towards alieviating the problems in the organization and would do a lot to remediate legitimate public concern.

Has GC responded to this idea (formally or otherwise)?

If not, I would be really interested to get the organization's response to this suggestion.

The idea was actually GC's originally. Dave Bovenmyer mentioned the possibility of a ministry audit in the same sermon he announced the church error statement in 1991, however nothing came of it. It probably went the same way the Book Of Government did.
