Terry got it at Alibris.com

It was the only copy he's ever seen there, but other used book sources may have it.

Thanks for the link to your paper. I look forward to reading it tomorrow. I picked it up to skim through it a couple weeks ago. It's really poorly written (both in terms of content and writing style).

When you have been without power (and therefore Internet) for the entire day, and come home late at night and try to comment you end up not proofing and therefore come up with statements like this.

What I meant to say was, I picked up the McCotter book a couple weeks ago and it was poorly written. In addition, that I look forward to reading your paper.

What it looks like I said was that your paper was poorly written. I DID NOT MEAN TO SAY THAT AT ALL. I HAVEN'T READ YOUR PAPER YET, BUT I'M SURE IT'S WELL WRITTEN AND CAREFULLY THOUGHT OUT!

I have now corrected it, but wanted to clarify for anyone that read it prior to my editing.

I am so sorry that my sentence juxtaposition made it look like I was referring to your paper.

And thank you to my wonderful husband for pointing out my blunder.

That is funny!  No offense.  Actually, you will likely find the style of my paper juvenile, though hopefully the content meaningful.

Also, sorry to hear about your power.  Last week we again lost our own power when strong storms brought down the lines and poles.  We're back to normal, at least until the next set of strong storms....

I wonder why they think sending a letter to Linda's family would do anything.

Probably somebody read Matthew 10:35 in their morning devotional that day.

My husband pointed out that while some people like to quote this verse in Matthew 10 to manipulate believers, they never get around to mentioning these verses later in Matthew 15.
Quote
4 For God commanded, ‘Honor your father and your mother,’ and, ‘Whoever reviles father or mother must surely die.’ 5 But you say, ‘If anyone tells his father or his mother, “What you would have gained from me is given to God,”  6 he need not honor his father.’ So for the sake of your tradition you have made void the word of God. 7 You hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy of you, when he said:

8 “‘This people honors me with their lips,
but their heart is far from me;
9 in vain do they worship me,
teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’”

Linda, you are ever so correct about Matthew 15:8-9!!!  Even educated men abuse this passage by using their imaginations to invent all kinds of things that "make worship vain," ignoring what Jesus said actually made worship vain.

Vain worship is caused by "teaching as doctrines the precepts of men."  "You invalidate the word of God for the sake of [because of] your manmade traditions."

...And by this you invalidated the word of God for the sake of your tradition. "You hypocrites, rightly did Isaiah prophesy of you: 'THIS PEOPLE HONORS ME WITH THEIR LIPS, BUT THEIR HEART IS FAR AWAY FROM ME. 'BUT IN VAIN DO THEY WORSHIP ME, TEACHING AS DOCTRINES THE PRECEPTS OF MEN.'" (Matthew 15:6-9)
