I liked Jim Coleman.  I found him thanks to that small website called Google.

I actually have fond memories of him.  From what I recall, he brought Brent in on board to the Minneapolis area and then left for Colorado.  Can someone correct me on this, about the Brent and Jim connection?

I liked Jim and his family too... there was a lot to like in character and number! From my perspective, I think he was a bit too independent for a career as a GCI leader. He used to send out hand-written newsletters that weren't officially approved from the top. I don't think he got advance approval from headquarters before advocating Gothard's curriculum for home schoolers.  He was also involved in a multi-level company which was out of vogue by then since tithing and membership cards and "Dress for Success" and "The Phone's for You" were strongly encouraged nationwide.

Jim and Pam left Minneapolis for rural Delaware. I don't think they were involved in GCI then, but their family was building a home themselves. Maybe they were supposed to be starting a church, too, but I don't think they did. Later they moved to Colorado and Jim now pastors an evangelical Presbyterian church. (Maybe their time in Delaware was to extract themselves from GCI.)
Jim and Pam and their whole family were great.

Does anyone remember why they left for Delaware? I was thinking that McCotter made the decision during that 80's invasion or whatever it was called when new elders and members from the Ames Mother Church were sent here. All of this puts a huge shadow on the core value of choosing elders from within and the importance of "knowing" a person before "recognizing" them as an elder. Obviously, from the start GC the local church wasn't as "local" as the paperwork would have members believe.

The mighty GCXweb has the answer.  Smiley  All of the I85 teams are listed, and it shows Jim Coleman on the Dover team.  http://gcxweb.org/Misc/Invasion85TheTargets.aspx

I also think Jeff Preble went to Dover too.  He may have gone with his wife Tanya at that time.
