Here is the link of the Rick Ross cult awareness:

http://www.culteducation.com/group/1046-great-commission-international.html

This website has changed over the years, but not Rick Ross. He has a huge backlog of lots of info on cults and people of faith hurting others. Quite a bit on his site for not being in GCM ever, but yet knows about what happened.

I remember hearing the pastor at Walnut Creek sharing about how they used to get negative press when he was alongside McCotter in Ames. He shared about how they met with a pastor in town who instructed them to find a place to, "jump up and down and shout for joy," because of their persecution. Sadly, high control groups that aren't as gospel centered as they think they are often cannot distinguish criticism that is due to them from true persecution. I'm sure that most people who post here aren't viewed as people whom they have hurt, but are seen as people who are deceived, no longer loyal to the cause and in league with him who shall not be named (and I'm pretty sure they think that of Rick Ross too). We are all persecutors to them and are therefore dismissed.

You're exactly right, Outtathere.  I've been on the inside and heard it myself.  Another label:"had problems with authority."  And now the leader garners sympathy from the flock by mentioning all those who used to be with us and have betrayed us.
I'm learning freedom, and this site has been helping me tremendously.
