This is and excerpt from Desiring God

Watch Their Doctrine — and Lives
What we might find surprising — both from Jesus and his apostles — is how revealing the everyday lives of false teachers are about their falseness. They are not just false in their teaching, but also in their living
.

Beneath their doctrinal error, however subtle and deceptive, we will find ethical compromises in tow. And those don’t usually come out overnight; they take time. But they will come. Here’s how Jesus prepares us in Matthew 7:15–20:

“Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves. You will recognize them by their fruits. Are grapes gathered from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? So, every healthy tree bears good fruit, but the diseased tree bears bad fruit. A healthy tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a diseased tree bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Thus you will recognize them by their fruits.” (see also Luke 6:43–44)

Jesus says it twice so that we won’t miss it: You will recognize them by their fruits. His warning may sound clear and simple at first, but as we all know, trees don’t bear fruit overnight. Eventually, however, the fruit (or lack thereof) will be manifest. And so it is with ethical compromise. What may begin as mere whispers in a private room will soon enough be proclaimed from the housetops (Luke 12:3). And so Paul instructs leaders not only to pay careful attention to their people and to their teaching, but also to their own lives (Acts 20:28; 1 Timothy 4:16).

Their fruit. Yes so on the one hand we have Mark Darling, who has led hundreds, if not thousands to Christ, has been a minister of the Gospel, has preached faithfully for decades, has raised an amazing family, his kids are all running for Christ and glorifying God active in ministry etc.

And on the other hand you have a bunch of self righteous pretentious victims who spend their days bashing and backstabbing on this forum. Ding ding, seems like we have a winner.

Digital Lynch Mob, then you are desecrating yourself by coming on here and interacting?  Shouldn't you be above that?  You wrote about the biblical precedent to dissociate from people, so why don't you "discipline" us in that way?  If we are so evil and sinful, please treat us like the tax collector and go.  Cast us out.  Shake the dust off your heels.  It seems like coming on here to call names demonstrates...bad fruit?  You can't on one hand cast us in the light of being unrepentant sinners and then not live up to your own beliefs that people like us should be removed from "our people." (remember Lev 18:29).  You're either at our sinful level or you're not.

You've already disciplined yourself with this sad little group. Spending your days in this odd "support group" of the victim-class telling each other how wronged you all were. Hobbies and jobs would do you all some good.

So I started this post to discuss false teaching, what it looks like, what it is, and no one has any input?    I have been posting some links from various authors regarding false teachers today in Christianity.
