Looking to find some folks who went through the GCx experience, and are now atheists, for like-minded conversation and friendship. You can post here, or feel free to message me in private.

Thank you. Smiley

You can count me in that group, my agnostic wife often questions how I became so atheist and explaining my past to her is near impossible.

I'd love to connect with you, and anyone else out there. Feel free to send me a private inbox if you don't want to just out yourself on this thread. Maybe we can make a group on Facebook, or we could do something to sort of... talk about life, post everything! Smiley

Hey, count me in as well.    Smiley

I've just stumbled on this site and browsed around a bit and I'm actually a little surprised that atheists seem to be a small minority here.  Maybe we tend to be less inclined to participate in a forum like this, or maybe it really is a rare outcome compared to most GCxers.

Anyway, to those of you reading this I wish you well.  It's clear that for many of you there's a lot of pain remaining in your life from your experiences in GCx churches -- I hope this community is able to bring a small amount of healing to your life.

Welcome, frantic.  There's a Facebook group that's been very welcoming as well, called "Post-Traumatic Church Syndrome." It's got atheists, agnostics, and people of all faith backgrounds.

I was looking for that group, Post-Traumatic Church Syndrome, but I don't see it. It's probably 'secret.'

Soon after I wrote the name, they changed it! That's why you couldn't find it.  It is now "Recovery from Religious Trauma." The other name was the name Reba Riley used for her book, so they had to change the name of the FB group.
It's been helpful to me. Hope you find it helpful too.
