Hey, I was just doing my once a month or so listening of current sermons/lectures/guilt-trips, and I found yet ANOTHER sermon on loyalty.  This one was one of the more skillfully manipulative and even included what I like to call a "preaching prayer."  You know the type I am a talking about?

A "preaching prayer" is when the speaker has finished his sermon/lecture/guilt-trip and then skilfully moves into a really long prayer where basically they are still preaching.  It's the kind of prayer where you tell God how He feels about things, or where you claim to know how God feels about things.

Anyway, I don't even know the speaker, but it was at Encounter 2007.  So my apologies to the speaker... he may very well be a nice person, but... quite frankly he's been brainwashed and thoroughly  brainwashed at that.

It's Encounter 2007, session 4.

Highlights include:

1.  Commitment to your local GC group... if not for life then for at least four years.

2.  Examples of people who commited to serve and or follow discipler/mentors even as far as Germany.

3. Oh, I don't feel like listing it all.  If you listen, you will have many more things to list yourself.

This is the kind of sermon that would have had two simultaneously effects on me.  I would have felt incredibly guilty.  I would also have felt incredibly trapped.

Anyway, I thought we could use this new section to list other loyalty sermons/lectures/guilt-trips you heard while in GC.

Oh an here's a link that will get you to the talk I am referencing.
