The ruined dreams and abandoned educations, the broken family relationships, the crushing legalism, the informants, the excommunications over trivial reasons, the young woman whose excommunication letter was signed by 132 other church members including some she had considered personal friends... these are just "weaknesses" excused by "youthful zeal" and "inexperience".
This is all so sad and should never have happened.
I can't stop thinking about the young woman who was excommunicated and how life changing and traumatic it would be on so many levels to have 132 fellow church members and "friends" sign a letter of excommunication. I also can't imagine how devastating that could be to one's faith. It makes me sick. And angry. I trust in the justice of God to make this right some day.
