I was just informed by a reliable source that MD is resigning as EC pastor.  DarthVader, ShinetheLight, and Phoenix should be able to gather additional information as EC attendees.  Personally, I could not see MD returning to EC whether he was exonerated or not after what has unfolded.

The end result may be the same, but him having the ability to resign is wrong.  If the report finds him guilty, he should be fired.

I agree Maple Leaf. This is another thing that happens in churches after abuse investigations. It is easier for the church to allow them to resign then to deal with the employment issues of firing them. For the abuser it allows them to continue in ministry while continuing their false narrative of what happened.

It would help if Evergreen did make the findings public so Mark Darling is limited in spinning his narrative.

Depends on his offenses and report should give further explanation this afternoon.

I am trying to process this. They put Darling on paid leave yet he has resigned. So that means he is not on paid leave?

BOT removed his ordination, but kept him on paid leave, with instructions on what he could do to recover his standing and restore his ordination.  MD decided he wasn't interested in the steps the BOT required (likely admitting guilt), so he resigned.

And then BKnox gets to go on for 15 minutes about what a great man MD is, how he is a cheerleader for MD, and how it was such a pleasure to serve with MD, who was a "unusually gifted man", and "the ying to my yang".  That's a lot of praise for a man found guilty of abusing young women, without even mentioning the victims who he abused.

Thank you for clarification. I fear the lack of proper boundaries will continue. Brent Knox is as much a part of it as Darling. Several other pastors also. But some steps into a positive direction have been made.

Disgusted! I am thoroughly and utterly disgusted. Where is the apology for wrongdoing? Where is the humility for the pain and suffering caused to the victims? Where is the humility? If Christ is to be glorified men must stop trying to “save face”!

Brent’s message this morning is making me want to vomit!!! He keeps stressing how Mark has a path back to ministry if he should choose to do so and drawing comparisons to the gospel and our path back to God. His message is all over the place.
(edited-changed leadership to ministry after listening to Brent’s message a 2nd time)

It also seemed like Brent was offering up the excuse of his phlegmatic personality type for not confronting Mark Darling in the past. As if it were Brent’s blind spot or weakness.

Yes!!! This was a "It was not my fault I did this" apology. Very lame.

And again the yearly pastoral review will not include members of the church, unless something changes. Brent said the pastors would review each other and maybe invite other people in. So NOTHING in the accountability area has changed. NOTHING
