This verse sums up the problem with using trickery to get people to join a Christian movement.

Quote from: 2Corinthians 4:2
But we have renounced disgraceful, underhanded ways. We refuse to practice cunning or to tamper with God's word, but by the open statement of the truth we would commend ourselves to everyone's conscience in the sight of God.

Quote from: the NLT for those who find the ESV hard to comprehend
We reject all shameful deeds and underhanded methods. We don’t try to trick anyone or distort the word of God. We tell the truth before God, and all who are honest know this.

Quote from: the Message for those who have trouble understanding translations
Since God has so generously let us in on what he is doing, we're not about to throw up our hands and walk off the job just because we run into occasional hard times. We refuse to wear masks and play games. We don't maneuver and manipulate behind the scenes. And we don't twist God's Word to suit ourselves. Rather, we keep everything we do and say out in the open, the whole truth on display, so that those who want to can see and judge for themselves in the presence of God.

I doubt seriously if you actually knew some of the people in the league that you would say this garbage to their faces.

I know many of the people who work this league and I would have no trouble saying anything that has been said here to any of them.  However, I doubt they'd be very receptive.  Their responses would probably closer to yours.

Because the original link is no longer online, I have edited the first post in this thread to include the archived text of the article.
