It sounds like you are right on this, DV, according to that post, because Loey did not come forward until after the Fox 9 report.

So hopefully, like you say, all five of those have spoken to Joan. I know there are others who do not wish to come forward at this time. Can you blame them?

Look at the way Natalie is now being torn apart.

I wonder if Natalie's interview went something like this?

According to social media you have been abused by
Your husband...."yes"
John Piper...."yes"
Bethlehem Baptist church....."yes"
Every counselor you have met with (which would be not one or two since you said all not "both") This would be 3 or more that have abused you...."yes"
Recently quit another church due to Male dominance which leads to abuse...."yes"
Now......20 yrs later Mark abused you too....."yes"

Unbelievable in more ways than one.

Yes, the above statement is unbelievable in many ways.

I recently was called for Grand Jury training and hope you realize that none of the above statements would be admissible evidence because they have nothing to do with whether or not abuse happened in this instance. Clearly this is an attempt to discredit a woman claiming abuse and intimidate others from coming forward. It is gossip based on assumptions you have made by gleaning information from the Internet. Is this a form of doxxing? Whatever it is, it is a reprehensible thing to do.

IsThisReal, I know that you do not believe the victims or agree with many of the people here, but the sarcastic and biting tone of your posts is not very becoming to your cause or helpful to those observing. It would be more helpful and garner more listeners  if you were to state your opinions in a more respectful tone (even though you have made it clear that you think most people here are disrespectful). On this thread, it would be helpful to hear your opinions on Suzanne’s update, since that is the topic at hand.  Thank you for considering.

Are you saying that most ECC folks are thinking that Natalie just misinterpreted normal counseling practices?  Even though Mark's representatives (mostly his children) are saying that he NEVER did these things (counseled a woman alone, met in the woods with a woman)?  How do they reconcile those contradictory claims?

Thanks for clarifying. The "insider" ECC perspective on what Natalie shared on Fox9 boils down to "a walk or two in the woods as a more pleasant place for some light counseling than an office that was clearly misunderstood"..I have heard there is more to the story than that, but that is the "spin" and in the absence of other facts, it's hard to counter.  All that really (should) matter is what was shared with Joan, but I doubt we'll hear that.

I've been thinking this would be a good option for victims depending on what the BOT announces.

This is all about the victims so nothing should be shared they don't want shared - but to the degree they are willing to share it would be helpful to know how many victims actually spoke with Joan, any outlines of stories that have not yet been shared to refute the "it was just a hug narrative."  Knowledge is power and right now, as an ECC location member, we are relatively powerless (even to know who is on our BOT making these decisions, which is another topic).  Just my thoughts, and again no victim should be pressured to share anything she doesn't want to - at all.

Sounds like she's well experienced being a woman in the realm of fundamentalist Christianity, as her story is not unique.  Hopefully we can all learn from recent problems in the SBC (which ironically has many similarities in structure to GCC).

It would be helpful at this moment in time if someone who is experienced in working with those whose reasoning is compromised due to being in a controlling and abusive environment were to give clarity as to what/why the ECC supporters are saying.

They believe obvious contradictions. This is probably in part because of the way we were taught to stop our mind from following thought patterns that questioned what evergreen leadership told us. It is an automatic process so many are not even aware that they do it. I bet there are other reasons that someone can both say things did not happen and also say they did happen but were not nefarious.

Those that grew up in the system are incapable of recognizing what they say or do as being unhealthy. They have been taught that it is righteous and God Honoring to mistreat people who "threaten" the organization with dissent or questions.

There is so much more going on. They are trapped. People who are living the Evergreen life are trapped by their own minds that were taught to keep them trapped. Even if they left for a deserted island they would still be trapped in the cultist mind-think.  It has been internalized. They need prayers and they need help so that they can come to a place to think clearly. They need to learn proper boundaries. They need our love but more they need the help of those trained to guide people who are so trapped.

I modified the post to remove the email addresses.  I'm not sure this meets the definition, given all information is public, but if it makes you happy  Wink

Thanks Shine the Light. I just know there are people out there who might use that information to harass. Perhaps they will find it anyway, but no reason to give them a shortcut.
