Does anyone know if there have been or if there will be updates on the investigation? I thought the board met last week?

Edit: Also, what's up with the radio silence from Mark's supporters (besides GTA)?

No idea where they all went, but can't personally say I miss them. I can't ignore how much more civil the conversations are right now! Yeah yeah... I'm slandering. Sorry.

There is an update on facebook today.

Why did they leave? Well, just when we think that, they'rrrrrre BACK!

But maybe they started to understand what this forum is all about, that's the positive spin!  Cheesy Or maybe they did not enjoy or appreciate our sense of humor??  Grin  Or John Hopler told them to cut it out, they might start to like us. Or....any other wild guesses?

For those of us not on Facebook, any way we could get the cliff notes version? Was it Suzanne or ECC?

It is Easter weekend.
They were all quiet for almost 2 months and then they all came out of the woodwork.  I would respect their decision if they retreated.  Many on the forum have been pleading for everyone to wait for facts and evidence to be shared. We don't need to be stirring the pot. Silence is not a bad thing for both parties.

I have no info on board meeting.

I would also encourage everyone to see the movie I Can Only Imagine and especially Paul, Apostle of Christ.

Have a special day celebrating our Saviors resurrection- Happy Easter!

I totally respect their decision!!

Scout says their story is "finally in the right hands" and "will eventually be made public".

Two members of the BOT want to meet with Scout to convey their discussion on March 27. Scout is in the process of discussing with her legal councel how to process.

An update is not stirring the pot.

A Happy and Joyful Resurrection Day to All. He is Risen!!

PLAIN and SIMPLE MATH

Put the Facts Together for Yourself to Conclude What it EQUALS

The following is an excerpt from a well laid out outline of the facts on Facebook about the investigation we are presently focused on.  What does logic dictate in this simple mathematical scenario?

"One thing you should know about me. I love numbers. I love data. I love facts. I just said at work the other day when something contentious came up, "I love numbers because they tell a story that is very hard to contradict."
Keep this in mind as I share the following...
Just over a week ago I went with my friend Suzanne McKay Van Dyck to meet with representatives of Evergreen (Lynn Newman - Operations Manager and Jim Bird - Finance Director) and they also serve on the Board of Trustees (BOT).
As we started our discussion, it became apparent that the purpose of the meeting was to convince Suzanne that the investigation is "independent." Let me lay out the facts and see if you agree:
- Evergreen has hired a lawyer that specializes in alleged work misconduct. However, keep in mind that the lawyer is being paid by the church that employs the "alleged" abuser.
- The BOT that will determine Mark Darling's fate is made up of 7 members: Lynn Newman and Jim Bird (both paid employees of the church that employs the alleged abuser); 5 church members selected by the respective church pastor at the location they attend (that employs the alleged abuser) and voted in by the BOT.
- The BOT will not publish the result of the investigation. But Suzanne and the other victims are expected to speak with the attorney and not have access to the report to discuss / correct any items that are reported.
- The BOT names are not published anywhere and when asked why this is so Lynn stated that they want the BOT to be like a sequestered jury where they cannot be subjected to outside influences such as social media or e-mail as examples. Last I heard sequestered juries were kept in a room and not allowed to work, be at home, attend church or have potential discussions regarding an alleged abuser.
In the article link below, an "internal" investigation by a church allows for self protection. An "internal" investigation is characterized by three things:
1) Control of the investigator - "when a practicing attorney or law firm is hired to conduct the investigation, the institution is in the driver's seat and the process is not independent"
2) Control of the process
3) Control of the findings.
Given the data I have laid out as well as the insight from the article, I would call this an "internal" investigation versus an "independent" investigation... but I will let you decide."

I personally conclude that the facts plain and simple add up to severe inequality.  To me this GCx church MATH EQUALS a Kangaroo Court.  What do you think?  By the way, if you are on the BOT you shouldn't read this because then you would be listening to both sides which you seem to be fiercely shielded from.

The italicized excerpt contains neither logic nor math.
