Building campaign was not the issue where I attended.  I will say that 4 or 5 mnths before I left the GCM church and was checking out where I presently attend, I went to a financial meeting before church.  The giving was going down and down, for a lot of community people were leaving and going elsewhere, therefore there were not too many people who could afford to support this church and the rented space on Sunday mornings.  One of the crazy proposals was to suggest pledging the tide.  This was another reason to get me to think even more of getting out.  A lot of things went on between 4-7 yrs ago.  There were a few good memories back then, such as a great ministry opportunity.  However I just did not feel as connected after the big move.

I can remember when the leaders proposed the idea of checking on everyone's checkbook to make sure we were all tithing 10%....... Needless to say it didn't happen because of the outcry.

My husband remembers the teaching at GCC about how "God will get His money one way or another" in other words, if you didn't tithe you could expect medical problems, accidents and financial problems.......

Scare tactics!
