I'm new to this site and a former GCIer.  I was involved with the GCI church in Ohio and later in Delaware.  I was wondering if anybody knew what ever happened to Erik Chase?  He was the pastor in Delaware and later moved back to Wisconsin after our church fizzled out.

Thanks

Was he a cousin to Brent Knox?  I seem to remember an Erik I think that was Brent's cousin -- I think I heard he was in Mpls.

welcome aboard.  I lost a friend to the Columbus church in the Mid Eighties.  Today we are the best of friends.  I was involved in reasonably healthy church in Texas  200-2007.   When and  where  were you involved.  Wasn't the Delaware church short lived?  You can send me  a PM off forum.  Just curious

I don't know if Erik and Brent were cousins.  The Delaware church lasted about four or five years.  Steve Hutta (sp?) was the co-pastor and later moved to DC to be involved with the POTENTIAL magazine.  That's when things started to head south for the church.  We were at about 250 and it was too much for one pastor to handle (who didn't really know how to share power).  We had some people from GCI headquarters come down to try to curtail the decline but they misdiagnosed the problem and said the congregation just needed to be more submissive...we closed our doors a short time later.

Happy you found your way to the forum!  I had not realized the Delaware church had gotten even that large.  Churches, like people, do not long survive by running on emotions.  They must appreciate their long term goals as established by Ephesians 4.

Again, welcome to the forum!

I think I remember Eric as a speaker from LT--I think it was around 2000.  Either then or 1995.  He was very political in his talks.  I think he quoted Rush Limbaugh at least once in his sermon.

He is not Brent's cousin.
