Well, I have lurked long enough! It is time to share some. I was raised in a Christian home and had a desire to serve God by the time I came (a little later than most) to college. What attracted me most to "THE CHURCH" was something that was missing in my ife, that is: boldness with the gospel.
That is something I definitely grew in while there!!
I probably did not notice some of the strange stuff right away because of my own legalistic background.
The church I thought I joined had a deep committed love to each other and out of that grew a love for the lost because they had the potential to  become one of us!  The church I know I left was only interested in numbers and performance, evangelists only, no other spiritual gifts need apply!
(To be fair I also thought I was joining a church where, like me, no one wanted to be married  Cheesy , (sometimes we hear what we want to hear!)

I never totally subscribed to the "we are the only ones doing it right since the first century" attitude, that really irked me and got me more that one reproof :?  LOL
I have other stories I will share later, for right now I just wanted to get registered etc.
I wish thtis site had existed when I left, I definitely had wounds that needed support. (Again, to be fair, I wish the internet had existed when I left

later and thanks

Welcome aboard.  GC has its plus and minuses.  The experiences can vary.  I could never stomach the "1st Century" church recreation.  It is culturally impossible. I used to cringe that Christianity reached the end of the world by AD 99.

Sounds like you in during the 80s as the verbiage suggests.

Welcome Ustawannabee!

We're glad you found us, and that we now can be together here with you!  I love your way of writing!  Please know that we do love and care for everyone here as we know how hard it can be to leave a church.  Take your time getting to know us here, perhaps reading some of the other "Hellos & Testimonies".

May God continue to bless, lead, protect, and grow you more like Christ ~ for His greatest glory and your greatest good!

The 1st century AD didn't end until the end of AD 100, so they had another year.   Cheesy
