I’m not trying to sound too pessimistic, but I’m pretty sure GCM doesn’t want to change.

The reason I believe that is because we went to many (5 at least) pastors for many hours (more than 35) on many occasions trying to “help them see” how they were being perceived and point out what needed to change.

At our last meeting with one of the founding pastors (who came up from Ames), we were told, “I understand what you are saying. We disagree and would ask that you leave rather than to try to stay and change things here.”

At that point, we knew it was over. Things were as they were by design.

They don’t want to change.

The weaknesses paper that was done in 1991 really means nothing.  There has never been an official renouncing of the False teachings of Jim McCotter.  There has never been an official separation from the teachings of Jim McCotter.

The truth was not shared.  Why?
To me it seems like the loyalty and protection of Jim McCotter was put above loyalty to Jesus.  I believe that Jim McCotter was on a Pedestal that only Jesus should have been on? I believe that He was an idol to many in leadership, and many church followers.

… True repentance needs to happen for true reconciliation between the 1000's of believers who have been hurt, disillusioned or walked away from any type of faith.  Our God is a God of Miracles.  I pray for true repentance. …

I don’t think we really understand the level of deception that occurs in people who abuse. We think that if they cry and say they are sorry, that’s a good thing. But it doesn’t touch the practice of deception that runs their lives and that runs their organizations. We’re very naive about that. You can’t marinate yourself in the lies and deception that are needed to keep abusing—and then say “I’m sorry” and have that change who you are.
