I was just reading the statement of error on the gcmwarning.com web site and came across this in their apology.

“Many of the most serious grievances that former leaders and members had might have been resolved many years ago if we would have had a formalized, written policy on handling complaints, addressing divergent views, and resolving grievances. That is why we are developing, as previously noted, a Book of Government that will provide that needed formality.”

Does anyone know if they ever came up with the “Book of Government”?

No. In fairly recent discussions with a Mr Gregg VanNada, he has admitted that there is currently NO Book of Government in place. Instinct tells me that this was merely an attempt by GCAC-GCM to buy time until the Standinger lawsuit in Ohio was settled out of court late in 1994.

The Standinger Lawsuit?

Now this is something I’m really curious about. I know Paul Standinger. Was this about Paul or his brother? What were the circumstances surrounding the case?

I would just like to note again that according to the GCC website they finished a book of government in 1994 called the Articles of Association - perhaps Van Nada (wonderful guy btw, I'd be willing to wager no one can find anything negative to say about him) was just unclear because the name is not exact, or who knows.  See separate topic regarding Book of Govt. What exactly is Vannada's role in GCM?

While I cannot speak for Greg's current role in GC(whatever-it-is-this-week), he moved to Orlando in 2001 when the national office relocated there from Columbus/Worthington, OH.

My understanding was that Greg led Rob Schiller to Christ, and was part of the "early group."

I don't know the precise nature of the arrangement, but I do know that as recently as several years ago, many GCM pastors were "accountable" to Greg (I don't know what the nature of that accountability was/is).  Also, after Jeff Kern stepped down as leader of the movement several years ago, he was replaced by a trio of individuals.  I remember Greg's name coming up at that time (perhaps as head of gcac???), but I don't recall if he was actually one of the trio in question.  I'll have to do some hunting on that one. Wink

While I've never been close to Greg, the times I met him, I was extremely moved by what a gentle man he is.  The times I've met him, he was a stark contrast to some of the more "gruff" leaders/men in gcm.

I was also impressed by what a humble, godly individual he is.  In my experience, humble men aren't the ones who go around shouting from the rooftops about how humble they are, nor are they the ones giving sermons on how one can be more humble.  Greg led by example.

Ahhh....did some quick hunting....

Greg is now the US Churches director:

A simple web search doesn't add information.  Imagine that.  Anyone know which state this lawsuit occurred in?

I forgot about the Standinger lawsuit.

In my first post on this thread (when I was still mamad) I quoted anonymous. See above.

Whatever it was seems to be a case in Ohio that was settled out of court in 1994. Anyone have any info?
