Some of you might find this interesting.

There's a lot more stuff in the article, but here are the 7 signs:

    1. Opposing critical thinking

    2. Isolating members and penalizing them for leaving

    3. Emphasizing special doctrines outside scripture

    4. Seeking inappropriate loyalty to their leaders

    5. Dishonoring the family unit

    6. Crossing Biblical boundaries of behavior (versus sexual purity and personal ownership)

    7. Separation from the Church

I found that quite disturbing. Several of the people who were part of our fellowship have joined the IHOP movement. I think it offers community (in my opinion, not healthy community) and emotional experiences (in my opinion, apart from scripture). This is sad and doesn't surprise me.

I once contemplated suicide as a way of escape because I didn't know how to get out of the system. Funny thing is (in retrospect), all I had to do is walk away. I was rejected, but now I realize that a true friend won't reject you. Some never did reject me and I miss them. The ones that felt I was betraying the movement...well I don't miss them anymore.

It wouldn't surprise me a bit if something twisted was going on behind the curtain of "leadership". Some day, I suppose, it will all be revealed. My hope is that it happens sooner than later so that more lives aren't ruined. Leadership was always veiled in secrecy and leaders always "found out" what people were up to. Also, I was not the only one who contemplated suicide as a way out. I know that others did too. I hope more people begin to speak out so that it never comes to something like what happened in this article.
