Women in Minstry

A Talk Worth Much Consideration

Recently, I have been looking into this gifting more deeply probably because I sense that certain women I have listened to embody this service in such a spirit-filled and excellent way. These are respectful of men, yet obey the Spirit’s leading to carry out their calling. They bless me and so many others. Numerous examples in scripture of its reality require a more thorough study than most have heard before.

A scripturally researched talk at Ashbury Theological Seminary on this topic confirmed what my gut felt deep down. Their emphasis on not breaking fellowship with those that did not agree was commendable and based on the fact that it not a crucial doctrine in salvation, but opponents who were often trying to be obedient to the two places in scripture that “appeared” to give no support to women with “speaking” gifts in the company of men. The context of such instructions seems to be key to why they seem to contradict numerous instructions and inspiration given by Paul.

This talk may be a tremendous encouragement for some and a tradition-bending set of facts for others. It would be quite helpful to listen to the whole talk and not just a portion of it in order to study and ponder or make a judgement on it. The presentation of it is quite exciting. Hang on to you hats!
