Divine Connections

"Every good and perfect thing is from above"

Wouldn't it be cool if we really did do this whenever a "God-thing" happens to us. Or keeping a little notebook with us to remind us of the many good and perfect things that only he does. And sharing them with a friend. The link below stirs up that Divine Connection.

WITH Him

Watched the first part titled “Why Am I Here?” today of the video series “Discover My Calling” by Robert Morris. It was quite encouraging. I find Pastor Morris’ investigation and application of the scripture anything but boring. He is doctrinally sound, authentic, and balanced in his emphasis and unfolding of the Word of God.  I especially like his applications of it to our real lives.

This particular episode included the first and foremost element of our Christian life.  Being WITH Jesus.  Knowing Him.  He explained that the disciples had to spend time with Jesus so they could truly grow in their faith, and then glow from being in His Presence.  What hit me was even today we get to be WITH HIM too; in our time alone talking to him, listening to him through his Spirit and in His personal word to us in the Scripture, and of course as we lean on him throughout the day, much like the disciples did two thousand years ago (except, of course, they could see and touch him).

“The Lord GOD has given Me the tongue of discipleship, to sustain the weary with a word. He awakens Me morning by morning; He awakens My ear to listen as a disciple.”
Isaiah 50:4

When they saw the courage of Peter and John and realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus.
Acts 4:13

Abiding in Him

Andrew Murray guesstimates in the foreword of his book, “Abide in Christ,” that the reason many believers don’t experience a closer experience and continuing joy after their beginning in Christ is because they are ignorant of how to obtain it. He says the promises and precepts pertaining to “Abide in Me” (for continuing overflow of Jesus) have not been taught and explained with the same distinction and repetition as the “Come to Me” (for initial salvation) invitation and promise. So, he has written this book to inform believers of them so they will the enjoy the fullness of all Jesus is offering them.

His words provide a wide and sturdy foundation for the believer to continue on in the surpassing joy, peace, and power of the Lord. The result being the genuine fruit only Jesus’ life in us can produce.

“Remain in My Love” ―John 15:9
Many Christians go to church each week burdened by guilt and shame, believing they are unworthy of God’s full love. In “Abide in Christ”, Andrew Murray reminds every Christian that God promises His constant presence with them.

Wow! Gorgeous scenery with wonderful verses and paraphrases from Psalm 91. I could watch the first half again. I love the experience of God’s word with music & his gorgeous creation.

I confess the prayer in the second half was getting too long for me this morning, so I cut off sometime during the six minute mark.
