Friends, Romans, Fellow De-commissionites,
Lend me your ears.  I come to bury GC*, not to praise it...

The wiki listing for the cult has been transformed for the better over the last several months.  It appears that former poster Nate has done a lot of leg work to bring the page up to speed.  It may be worth a moment or two of your time to review the page as it currently stands -

http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Great_Commission_Association&direction=prev&oldid=121593405

The entry appears to strike a fair balance of good and bad about the group.  It casts just enough of a shadow upon GC* that a new member will have reservations about joining this outfit.  That is all we can ask in this overly PC world we live in.

Nate, if you're out there, Thank You.  You're a good man to stick to your word and write truthfully about your findings, even if it meant swallowing your pride and exposing the group for harming people as they have.  I'm sorry for the pain this must have caused you emotionally and spiritually, but it is better to discover the truth now, rather than getting yourself and your bride in even deeper.

Thank you Nate for helping us reveal the truth -

For All Those Who Are Hungry For Good Bible Teaching:

Below is the link to the Desiring God Conference that took place last week at the church where John Piper is the pastor & teacher.  John MacArthur, Jerry Bridges, John Piper and others spoke.  I have only finished the first message (by MacArthur on 2 Cor. 4) and it was excellent!  You can either just listen, listen and watch, or download transcripts.  Enjoy!

Here are the links for those of you who may be looking for a good church.  The first link is to the main page of Bible BB, a very good resource, which has a tab for "Looking for a New Church?"  That is a list of state by state churches which have been screened for a true Gospel and proper Bible teaching.  The second link is an article to help you discern whether a church is indeed a good one.  Both are very good resources.  Enjoy and may God bless and lead you!

Here is the link to Pyromaniacs blogspot (Phil Johnson) ~ there are some excellent resources listed here and some very good articles.  Also the last day or so there were some great video spots/spoofs answering the Emergent church type stuff that has become so popular.  The one called "Bullwhip Guy" is particularly good!  And the one following is about how to share the Gospel properly... very good!  Enjoy TeamPyro on a regular basis!

We recently received the latest Wellspring newsletter. It contained two links that might be of interest. The first is to a new movie that premiered at the L A Film Festival last June entitled "Join Us". It is about 4 families as they leave an abusive and controlling South Carolina church and find help at Wellspring.

The movie's web site is:
www.joinusthemovie.com

The second link is to an online book by Stephen Martin entitled, "The Heresy of Mind Control".

The link to the book is:

Maranatha just mentioned the "Join Us" web page.

I came across it a few month ago. It was mentioned in a Wellspring newsletter.

Another thing mentioned in that newsletter was the online book by Stephen Martin. I thought the book was very insightful and helpful.

See the links in my previous post above.

The "Join Us" web page made me feel really sick inside and very sad. Not to mention foolish and deceived.
