Teaching is Rarely for Tearing Down
“Teaching” is rarely for tearing down unless you are Jesus addressing the Pharisees. The teaching Jesus practiced and modeled to those sincerely interested was
as to sheep without a shepherd. He loved and cared for the people. He taught with compassion toward sinners seeking him. I think of his compassion toward the adulterous woman dragged to the temple grounds. He did not condemn her as she hung her head, but offered grace and truth to her to pull her from the pit and give her real hope from that moment on.
1Brothers, if someone is caught in a trespass, you who are spiritual should restore him with a spirit of gentleness. But watch yourself, or you also may be tempted. 2Carry one another’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. (Galatians 6:1-2)
1Now by the mildness and gentleness of Christ, I appeal to you—I, Paul, who am humble when face to face with you... (2 Corinthians 10:1)
Teaching is not for ripping apart the sheep so the “teachers” can feed their ego on the shame they have arrogantly belittled their people with. It
not for tearing down God’s people in order to build the leaders up as “wolves” do. The Spirit through the Apostle Paul clearly warns about that practice.
19For you gladly tolerate fools, since you are so wise. 20In fact, you even put up with anyone who enslaves you or exploits you or takes advantage of you or exalts himself or strikes you in the face. (2 Corinthians 11:19-20)
The message below is a good explanation of this dynamic of sincere love for the sheep in Jesus’ teaching. It begins at the 36 minute mark. There are also helpful insights into a fleshly delivery of one’s message.
