An example of an attender of one, does any of this seem familiar to you?
When you show up at The Meeting Place you will find everybody dressed in casual clothes. Dwight, our Lead Pastor, commonly preaches in Jeans.
There is coffee and drinks that are free to everyone who shows up.
Every service is designed to help you experience God. We aren't big on show, and we don't like to control too much about how you act (like when you stand or when you sit.) We want you to feel totally comfortable doing whatever helps you to worship.
The music sounds like music that would be common on a local rock station. The teaching is very relaxed and not preachy. Dwight identifies with you more than tries to correct you.
We've had many people tell us that their experience at TMP was unlike any experience they've had at church before...and they loved it!
Talk about a great way to start your week off! If you like real and passionate people, you won't find a better environment!
How about what they say about Scripture:
The Meeting Place is an independent Christian church. This means that we are not part of a denomination, but are affiliated with other independent Christian churches that base their authority on God's Word and not a central office or a denominational headquarters.
We believe that the Bible (God's Word) is an invaluable tool that helps us understand God's chracter, love, and desires for us.
Our focus as a church is on relationships. A relationship with God and each of us. And relationships between us as humans.
We like our name, The Meeting Place, because it focuses on relationship as well. This is a great place to meet God and a great place to meet others.
We welcome people of any background to join us, and to figure out life and faith with us.
We would love to get to know you and your friends and family.
I came across a pamphlet for this one while trying to figure-out who owned some books (notebook, bible, some other book) in lost and found in order to track-down the owners. Sadly there's no name throughout the notebook, but there is lots of stuff on how the church is for "making heaven on earth" and other such characteristic denials by the emergents that it's a spiritual and heavenly (VS. earthly) place (not really a personal notebook, rather a "thoughts on Scripture" kind of thing--and shallow, twisted, ones at that, unfortunately).
