Hi, everyone.

Happy to update that I'm attending a new church, and so far, it seems healthy. And not insane. God is tending to my heart in a palpable way, and I am very grateful.

I'm currently reading "The Subtle Power of Spiritual Abuse", and though painful, it's helping quite a bit. Do you guys have any book recommendations for healing?

Glad to here you’re finding some healing!

I found these books helpful:

Twisted Scriptures by Mary Alice Chrnalogar
-it helped bring a clear understanding of how mind control worked, I found it to be very true of the gcc church I came out of.

Safe People by Cloud & Townsend
-not about spiritual abuse but certainly helped me to understand how and why my pastor was so dysfunctional and unsafe.  Also helped me to find safe people moving forward in life.

Broken Trust by Remy Diederich
-I found this book to be very comforting and supportive, I continue to go back to it for reassurance and just to have sense that there are people who understand what I’ve been through.

I haven’t read Sharing Jesus with the Cults but I want to because the author talks directly about the mind control of Great Commission Churches

Blessings as you continue to heal.

I found rereading “The Grace of God” by Andy Stanley this past holiday helps to keep me anchored in the PURE Grace of God.  It is so invigorating and motivating to be reminded that his grace is constantly undeserved.  I don’t have to stress out because I don’t think I’ve been or done “ENOUGH” to receive it.  Instead, I can jump for joy inside at his everlasting extravagant love toward me.

For grace is given not because we have done good works, but in order that we may be able to do them.        - Saint Augustine

I found Recovering from Churches That Abuse, by Ronald Enroth to be very helpful.

I am currently researching trauma bonding. I think it describes my relationship to my old pastor.

Here just one article, people can find many more by researching trauma bonding or trauma bonding in cults.
