The Prodigal God by Timothy Keller, I think, is profound.  The view of Christianity and God is nothing less than jaw-dropping.  It is a short read.
If you want to get a biblically profound view of God and his Grace, and be biblically and profoundly encouraged then READ THIS BOOK.

For grace is given not because we have done good works, but in order that we may be able to do them.        - Saint Augustine
