Here is an article that explains well, in my experience, the abuse that is happening in gcc churches currently.

Interesting read. It's good to know the signs of narcissism so you can recognize them in other settings.  We are in a bad situation after having to fire a contractor in the middle of a huge remodel.  But as soon as we learned we was lying, realized he has made promises he wasn't keeping, and that he played games with his workers (flattering some and attacking others, being oppositional with those he didn't like to the point that it harmed our home, making threats with their paychecks) he fired him in an instant and asked for the unspent portion of our money back.  We had seen these types of behaviors before in our abusive pastor and now when we see those red flags we know we need to protect ourselves.  He said all the right things in the beginning and kept trying to soothe us but as soon as the behavior is grossly different than the words, there is no more trust.
