Hey all! Thought some people might find this interesting, the UNO paper recently published an expose of sorts regarding the Rock on campus, and how it's potentially harmful to students. I am glad to see some people speaking out, and hope it's taken seriously by the administration.

Thank you for the link. Wow, forty years later, and they're still using the same control, isolation, and immersion techniques they used back in my day.

So glad UNO posted this.  This group is a Toxic Faith Group - it truly is damaging to your soul.  I’m glad the university is making the proper effort to warn their students.  They could follow up with an article outlining the characteristics of Toxic Faith from Arterbern’s book, “Toxic Faith”, for students to look out for.

In reply to a quote from the opposing point of view below from the article, I would say it’s more like making endentured servants of this organization to give away your freedom and joy by sitting at the feet of men and their oppressing traditions.

“Marsden said. “To make disciples inside of our campus at UNO and advance God’s word and God’s truth and grace and love and to be the feet of Jesus inside UNO’s campus.””

Thank you for posting this. Yes 40 years later and they are doing the same forms of mind control. As a person newly abused out of gcc it’s important to me that people hear the message that this problem isn’t just Mark darling. People have the right and need to learn what a healthy church is like and what is spiritual abuse/ mind control/ psychological abuse/ emotional abuse.

I was thinking last night about how the whole gcc system is set up for people to abuse each other. People need to understand this. When I’ve spoken to people who have left the gcc church I come from 2 of the 3 last names that repeatedly get spoken of as having been abusive are not pastors.

One of the comments I saw on someone's post about this was "the Rock is gonna have a record attendancr tonight!" And that about sums up one of the biggest issues with the Rock. They've cultivated this martyrhood mentality, so the slightest criticism is met with defensiveness instead of being met with compassion and openness. If they were willing to discuss the concerns shared, wouldn't that be great?
