The MD fan club seems awfully concerned about him getting glory.

Hey guys,

Been following everything for a while now and just started an account.

One thing I have noticed that they keep adding new stories everyday. It appears that more people are adding things.

https://pastormarkdarling.com/servant/

It is ok that they keep adding things. The stories are a glaring warning to those who are not caught in the Evergreen mind think. Some people could be decieved by the stories, but most people would likely see through the happy stories. They contain details that many would find disturbing.

What do you mean by see through the happy stories? What details do you find disturbing?

Disturbing details are what people say and how they say it that to anyone not trapped in the mind control of the group will see as being "off" or unhealthy. General examples are people attributing their life to Mark Darling and not to the choices they made and to Jesus Christ. Statements that say they would not be the person they are today without Mark Darling is a sign that they attribute to Mark what should only come from Jesus Christ. If they had never met Mark Darling do they think that Jesus would not reach them? Devotion to Mark Darling while discounting the findings by Evergreen, the BOT, and the attorney Evergreen hired to investigate. This is apparent when they all were saying to trust the BOT to do the right thing and to trust the Attorney. Yet when Mark Darling was found to have committed serious sin they then decide that the BOT and the attorney are not to be trusted. Not recognizing that Mark Darlings teachings and tapes are not about God but about Mark. He shares stories about himself and tells people to follow himself (Mark) and tosses in just enough scripture and the name of Jesus to make it appear to people that it is about Jesus Christ. If people had Jesus on the pedestal not Mark they would not be as upset as they are about what has happened. There would not be a Pastor Mark Darling website nor a possible split in the church. Because in a healthy church the church would go on just fine without Mark. Instead people want to follow Mark and distrust even those whom Mark worked with at the Rock.

Funny how I donít see anything about Jesus on Marks new website? Because itís not a website dedicated to bring others into relationship with Christ but cult followers golden calf of idolatry created to bow down and show loayalty to a unrepentant man.

Every single story on that website is about how God used MD to bring people to Christ, helped them grow in Christ, and live out the truths in the Bible. That is a pastors job, he did an amazing job.  The website is to celebrate his work as a pastor for 30+ years, and his life's work and sacrifices, to help others come to know Christ and grow and obey God's Holy Word.  It was created by some guys who attend the church.

This is a Jeromy Project. In fact many of the testimonies are written to Jeromy. As in the writer saying "Your Dad..." It is clear that Jeromy is asking for the testimonies. There is nothing wrong with that..just lets be honest about who is doing what. Evergreen and the Rock are steeped in secrecy and dishonesty as common practice. That is something that attenders do not realize - until they do. And then many leave.

Seems like there is a lot of concern that Mark isn't going to receive plaudits and praise for his time in ministry.

How many pastors have you had that had websites filled with testimonials about THEM?

A wolf doesn't eat all the sheep.  He or she only eats the ones that look vulnerable or to their liking.  For the remaining sheep, they could write nice things about the wolf.

Also, a "pastor" that develops a taste for sheep is not a good shepard.

I think you misunderstood. I could edit my post. A son gathering positive stories about their father is not wrong. There are times when this is healthy. However in this case it is part of the disease.

If there is an inkling of an idea here of splitting off from Evergreen and starting a new more purely New Testament church, and if this web site is sort of the first step toward something like that, it is on a crumbly foundation no matter how glitzy and photogenic it looks on the outside. A break off because Mark Darling was found, after thorough investigation by the church he co-founded through a third party law firm, with the results firmly in the grip of Evergreen since the BoT was pastor appointed, to have been inappropriate with women.

It looks like a family dynasty, where you are for sure qualified for spiritual leadership if you are a Darling or related to a Darling
.
Glory to God does not fizzle, but glory to a family fizzles. You can only get so many people on board and then the in-fighting and jealousy and who-is-the-most-loyal-and-committed stuff starts to take hold.

I feel sorry for anyone who thinks that a new church or ministry with Mark Darling, by himself or with one of his sons, at the helm, is a good idea.

I am trying very hard to avoid the b and c words. Brainwashed. Cult.

Having been part of a church divide over a pastor who was found guilty of (spiritual) abuse, it is very confusing and painful.  My church made the same mistakes ECC is making--no formal apologies, they did not stand by the results of the report that was shared, they did not help the church process and frame it in a healthy way.  The pastor and his inner circle were clearly guilty but when church members attacked anyone who agreed with that, church leaders did nothing to affirm the finding of abuse.  Kind of like what is happening with the Darlingists who continue to say publicly that Suzanne lied (just today someone wrote that).  It's like ECC is too cowardly to "take a side" and instead just let the people fight it out for themselves.  This is NOT to say they need to control what people say or do, just that their silence also functions as condoning the nay-sayers and those who continue to revictimize.  They could reiterate that Mark has been found guilty and those who choose to deny that are not speaking for ECC.  They can explain to people that if the church is criticized, it is deserved and they should just listen and learn for a period, rather than fight and defend.

But my heart goes out to them, it is a uniquely painful experience.

Must be so confusing for Evergreeners right now.

On the one hand, you have an investigation and pastors and a BoT evaluation that say there is a real problem with things that Mark Darling has done, to the extent that he needs step out of pastoring and go through a process of fixing what was wrong. One pastor, while praising Mark up and down, also says that Mark is in denial.

On the other hand, you have many people inside the church saying that they don't believe Mark Darling ever did anything inappropriate, that if he did it was taken care of, that the pastors at Evergreen don't think Mark did anything wrong, that the women involved do not need an apology, that Mark Darling deserves nothing but praise and adoration.

Very confusing and sad. There is supposed to be unity, but it looks like there is a lot of disunity going on. Distrust of the BoT and their decision, distrust of the investigation, distrust of the pastors, and people mad at the women who brought this forward and their family and friends who supported them.
