There was no response but I did not ask for one, merely provided the information so it could be addressed.  Brian Holz posted on this site a couple of days ago indicating it was an issue with the accounting firm.  Brian is a missionary at Pine Ridge who invited Jeromy's band to play there.

OH....so it wasn't Jeromy's willing negligence? Who woulda thunk. So, why are we still going on and on about something we know to be a simple mistake with his accounting firm? You're right, lets go back to bashing Jeromy. I for one don't like his haircut.

OH FALLACY ALERT!!! I must go for now but maybe someone else can dissect your statement of non relevance.

Screaming louder doesn't tend to provide logic to your position.

Fireball - please keep in mind that Jeromy publicly told people on this forum they could look up his salary online as its (supposed to be) public in the IRS filings.  It seems illogical to criticize someone for doing what Jeromy said then sharing the results in same venue he posted the invitation to look up his salary.  When I found the issue, I notified a board member of The Salvage  Project promptly - I did not call the IRS or the State Attorney General. I'm not sure what else you want to complain about.

So Jeromy, showing that he has nothing to hide, instructs others that they can find out what they want to know online. One then uncovers a mistake, and immediately assumes the worst, even though Jeromy's actions suggest that he is honest. Where's the logic in this? It wasn't the act of sharing the information, it was the act of making grand assumptions before seeking more information. My point is to show that gossip has been the goal of folks here and not good intentions.

Like I said, I discovered his tax exempt status was revoked several weeks ago after he suggested people look at his tax status online on the IRS site. I said nothing even though Jeromy has actually been quite harsh with me specifically on the forum. I believe I was the first person to have the honor of being called a "spiritual masturbator" on this forum by him. He also said I was the purveyor of "fat stinking lies". I didn't assume the worst.

As I mentioned in an earlier comment, I was a director of a 501c3 nonprofit for 10 years. I'm guessing our budget was even lower than Jeromy's. $12,000 or so a year. When your budget is low and you can't hire tax accountants, you do your best. Our form was actually quite easy. For a while it was a postcard, and later, I believe we did it online. Basically, we checked a box that said our income was under $25,000 a year, (I think it was $25,000) signed it, and that was it. No money sent. No detailed financial reports. Just checked a box. No math required. No bookkeeping required other than know the total funds received during the year.

Brian Holz said, "Yeah, he did mention that. The accountant he used for 3 years failed to file his 990. So he switched to a new accounting firm and is now all caught up on their 990s and is in the process of having is 501 C3 status reinstated," so Jeromy has been informed. There is no need for any of us to message him. He knows. Now the ball is in his court. He really should fix the web page.

I have no reason to believe grand assumptions were made about why his status was revoked. I didn't. In fact, I actually assumed the best. That it was an honest mistake due to being unfamiliar with IRS regulations. The only grand assumption I see here is to make a blanket statement that "gossip has been the goal of folks here and not good intentions."

However, what I do find odd is how people have gone into attack mode on this. Jeromy's non profit messed up, people pointed it out and the concern is not that Jeromy reinstate his status ASAP and in the meantime correct his web page (which he could easily do since he is a professional in that area), but rather attacks come in on the motives of people who posted it and statements that suggest no one itemizes their deductions anymore to somehow oddly defend him. What in the world?

Thanks for plugging your music, Jeremy. I've heard your father plugging your ministry and music as well.  I find it interesting that GCM churches, like Cedarcreek in Eau Claire, WI are supporting your Salvage Project.  I was wondering if you could tell me how you guard against nepotism.  It looks like you are the only paid member of the Salvage Project, the rest being volunteers.  How much are you receiving from this ministry?

Please don't think that I'm picking on you because you posted.  I noticed this quite a while ago and figured since you were on here perhaps you could answer these questions for me.

First of all you spelled my name wrong. Second I'm a registered 501(c)3, meaning you can find my PUBLIC salary on the IRS website. I have a board of directors that includes 2 pastors, who set my salary and determine ALL financial moves. I raised the salary myself like every missionary does. Did you read the letter? Do you have any comments on that? My word..

So let me be clear to Fireball, "Rypick" and all the others - Jeromy himself suggested - on this forum- we look up his information on the IRS website.  I did this and posted the results on this forum. His financial house was not in order (which he apparently didn't know) and now it will (hopefully) get put right much sooner than otherwise,  yet we are being attacked for gossip and slander - for doing exactly what Jeromy said to do...MD supporters are awesome  Wink..Just update the website, file your taxes and stop attacking others through surrogates.

Since you mentioned it, I did look at your 501c3 filings and there is no financial information available. I can understand you might prefer to keep the source of your income private, but you should not tell people it is public information when it is not public. Also, your board of directors is unavailable so there's no way to know if your father is a board member in control of your income.

Good luck to you in the difficult weeks and months ahead.
Although he didn't find the IRS website Boggs did find charity watch sites that link directly to the underlying IRS data back in March. Not sure why this didn't generate the same backlash we got when I posted this but se la vid. BTW, I think either Boggs was wrong about the board not being mentioned or it was added later - not to any of the websites Boggs posted but on The Salvage Project home page, the board members are listed.

My intent is to be done with this whole topic. Jeromy and his board know of the issue.  If you want to keep attacking the messenger, I'll probably give into my baser instincts and defend myself, but otherwise, I have nothing else to say on this topic unless until new information comes to light (e.g. until we actually get to see the IRS 990s that have never been filed).
