It's completely unrelated to GC, at least in the article.  The Register is a well-respected but occasionally tongue-in-cheek online IT rag in the UK, with an office or two in the US.

I will sadly say that over the time I was in a GCM congregation, it went from very open to very insular; I knew the history of the movement when I started (and at least one of our leaders was, to the end, very open about it with me), but when I left many years later I knew almost no one else who did, and by that time relative newcomers were being discouraged from finding out other views on the organization.

I posted here because I could see this article (and the succeeding comments) having been written about GC almost verbatim at the time I left, if GC had creative people working on Wikipedia articles...  :shock:
