I don't live in a very big town, and feel like, everywhere, there's GCx people. GCx people with their 20 kids a pop, GCx people with jobs in everything, at the grocery store... and yes... I have to attend a low cost, free clinic, for a lack of current resources... and my medical provider is a frigging GCxer.

I love this town... but I feel like GCx has so ruined my ability to live here. And I *DON'T* want that person managing my health, but they do it by lottery, so I get whoever I get. :/

I am so sorry. I have heard this before from more than one person. So sad that people feel a desire to leave town to escape GC. Breaks my heart. God bless you.

I have felt that way too sometimes.  I think that is the fight or flight syndrome, isn't it?  I run into GCs too in my small community.  But I know the Lord is healing me and continues to minister to me.  He is building trust in Him, not any religion.  It is never about blind unity, loyalty to a man, the elders or any organization.  It is always about reading, hearing, studying the Word of God for yourself.  You are not finished yet - God is not finished with you yet!  Allow Him to minister to you and heal you from this bad experience.  I know it seems insurmountable but we worship the God of impossibilities - He can and He wants to give you an abundant life through Jesus Christ.  Keep posting - I'll pray for you.

If you did leave town because of GCx, you would not be the first one.

As much as I hate to say it, when I finally left the city I had been living in while going to a GC church, I finally started to heal. I needed a new start, with new people, new opportunities, and a chance to put the past behind me. I couldn't see the city the same way as I had when I first started to live there, because all the experiences I had were with the church in one way or another. It was all a reminder of my time there. I felt stuck and stagnant.

Also influencing my decision was the fact that I had nothing outside of GCM to live for in that city. I had invested so much in the church I didn't have anything outside of it. There was nothing holding me there, other than a job, and those exist in other places... I don't regret the choice to leave one bit.

I didn't take the decision lightly, and would not recommend anyone doing it lightly. But for some it is the right choice, and if you feel that your life and walk with God are stagnant where you live, it may be right for you.

Yeah, I agree with you MidnightRider.  He/she would definitely not the first one to do something like this. However, after all it's their own personal decision. I would rather just say that think over it once again... Rest is on them whether to leave or not.

I support whatever it is you need to do. What is your ideal situation?
